Easy Easter?

No sooner have we thawed and our minds at EWS are turning to Easter, well…. Chocolate! and Spring! Longer days, and some colour in the garden…. It’s early this year and our own spring chicks have over two weeks off, it’s creeping up!  Maundy Thursday being in three weeks….  panic not!

Here’s the pick of some of the best activities and clubs to consider alongside the usual suspects, when juggling work and children during the Easter holidays:

The Hepworth, Wakefield are hosting an Easter Art Club suitable for 6-11 year olds.  The kids will join artist Jennyanne Smith for three days of fun, play and creativity.  During this time they will explore the galleries and experiment with different materials including printmaking, clay, plaster casting and giant drawing. The course culminates in a mini-exhibition of your work for family and friends! Tue 3 – Thurs 5 April, 10am – 4.30pm (extended hours 9am – 5pm)  £90 for three days/ £125 for three days with extended hours

Alongside the Art Club are some amazing free activities including Art Pods and Light Play, also other bookable workshops.  It’s still free entry to the gallery and with the gorgeous cafe and shop we have come to expect from such establishments its a great place to head for the day.

So, the National Trust are in partnership with Cadburys for Easter this year, that’s a match made in heaven eh? There are a number of sites in Yorkshire, choose from Beninbrough Hall, Fountains Abbey, Nostell Priory, or Nunnington Hall to name but a few.

Unless you are a member you pay on entry, but the Cadburys Easter Egg Hunt and Craft Activities are free, as is the fresh air!

Wholly embracing the chocolatey element to this school break is the York Chocolate Festival! Running from 29th March – 2nd April in Parliament Square, York.  Free ‘entry’ with some ticketed events on site, you will be able to enjoy exhibiting Traders and Makers of the brown stuff alongside a Food Factory offering hands on cookery run by the York Food Festival, for more info  take a look at,
