As our readers have probably gathered … here at EW&S we are, well … quality, independent, barista prepared, coffee dependent!
At this particular café we, and of course you, can indulge supporting a charity at the same time.
This particular charity helps youngsters in Leeds with Down Syndrome to forge a pathway into work via their brand new coffee shop and gallery in Headlingley.
Sunshine & Smiles is run entirely by parents of children with Down Syndrome and offers support to families across Yorkshire.
Further to the success of a pop-up café last year they have now opened a permanent café in Headingley.
The new branch of Café 21 will offer 16-24 year olds the opportunity to gain vital skills under one-to-one supervision from the charity’s volunteers, from barista training to customer service relations. Employees will even be offered the chance to undertake formal qualifications.
As well as coffee there will be gorgeous homemade food and cake available, and retail concessions featuring local creatives.
Amazing work Sunshine and Smiles! See you soon!
