Back to Basics (not the club, but kudos if you thought that)

We all know we should drink a bit more water, eat a bit less cake and do a bit more exercise but somehow it never quite happens. It’s the same for shopping for basics. Who wants to buy boring t shirts when the racks are swinging with enticing bejewelled dresses?

But basics really are the building blocks of any wardrobe, the foundation of your image empire, the anchor in a sea of bad fashion choices if you will. Yes. Really. Here’s why…

Basics will always always always provide you with something to wear: when all hope is lost, when the dress code is ambiguous (Business Casual anyone?) and when your wardrobe is actually a floordrobe.

Two crew neck sweaters, cigarette pants, a silk shirt, a couple of jersey tops and a pair of black court shoes later and Outfits Ahoy! Throw on a leather jacket, adorn your neck with some jewels, grab a clutch and its instant easy outfit (also instant chic which, let’s face it, we all love.) Mix with some vintage pieces and its Hello Miss Individual! Save for weddings or award ceremonies when a slinky dress/tux is de rigour, basics can be combined to give you endless outfits.
