Sarah Lewis is a Yorkshire born fashion designer who started her own line in winter 2017 focusing on beautiful coats and jackets. When Earth, Wit and Style visited her studio it purley to see for ourselves the range of oversized coats cut from the best wool, cashmere and tweed used by the finest fashion houses in the world. They were beautiful but this was spring and our eye was caught by the rolls of Linton Tweed best known for its use to make the iconic Chanel Tweed Jacket.
So of course by the time we left we had ordered a bespoke jacket!
Unless you are embracing an oversized shapeless look jackets are notoriously difficult to buy off the shelf to fit, if you get them to fit the shoulders/boobs it swamps you round the waist or vice versa. This jacket will fit perfectly everywhere.
So appointment 1, Sarah asked lots of questions we hadn’t thought about. Even though we had an image in our head of exactly what the jacket should look like it was a tad blurry around the edges. What should the exact length be? What sleeve length? How should the neck look? Measurements were taken and lining fabric chosen.
Appointment 2, the toile had been made to measure and is pinned to fit. At this stage changes were made, sleeve length and shape…….nothing major!
And now we are eagerly awaithing appointment 3, this will be the first time we see the jacket made up in the fabric we have chosen. Will it live up to expectations, we will keep you posted!
