Successfully navigating what was and wasn’t acceptable, working with ‘the do’s’ and avoiding the don’ts, tweaking the dress code to our stylish advantage. We knew that those great tailored trousers looked fabulous with heels but would do nothing for us with flats so heels it was. In the same way we know most jeans would also work so much better with a heel…but times have changed …we now have children in tow and adventure playgrounds to explore.
Add to that those lovely, irreversible changes (unless you have Tracy Anderson on speed dial) that happen to your body after childbirth and those cheap skinny jeans designed for young, flat stomached, hipless teenagers don’t really work anymore either. But aren’t they the easiest thing to throw on every day? So what do we do, do we try to fit in and adopt the “mum uniform” with its dowdy subtext or do we buy a wardrobe full of one hit fashion wonders trying to pick up where we left off pre-kids?
