Let’s shed some light

As we know lighting can totally transform the mood of a room and a well thought out scheme will always include some task lighting and accent lighting alongside any ceiling lights. It’s something designers think carefully about when planning a scheme, however often its overlooked when we are decorating our own homes.

Furnish and Fettle are real advocates of a statement light….Not only will it be a practical addition to a room it will also add drama and interest. The chandelier is the most obvious choice for a statement piece and always looks stunning in a high ceilinged traditional room.

Not a fan of the traditional/classic chandelier? fear not…The industrial trend in lighting is still going strong and works well in a more contemporary scheme  .

Equally popular and one that works extremely well in both period and modern homes is  Mid Century style, these tend to feature brass and glass and are very stylised. They can be a fantastic contrast in a traditional home or compliment a pared back more modern scheme.

The easiest way to add some accent lighting into a room is with a table lamp, Pairs of lamps on a console really balance a scheme and are a quick way to add some height or drama to a room. No room for a console then a standard lamp is a fantastic idea, it can serve as a reading lamp when positioned next to a sofa or armchair or can simply provide some accent lighting whilst adding interest to your scheme.
