Lingholm…………and alpacas!
Having visited The Lingholm Estate’s Kitchen and Walled Garden as a post ‘Catbell’s summit conquer’ reward previously, EW&S were excited at the prospect of staying at Keepers Cottage one of the beautifully appointed self catering lets available on the Estate. With work commitments only allowing for a 2 night break in the lead up to Easter, Lingholm came up trumps offering flexible, short stays even at the height of the school holidays, standing out from the majority of other cottages insisting on a week’s commitment minimum.
The Estate is situated on the Western Shore of Derwentwater in a dramatic location surrounded by incredible views of some of the best loved Lakeland fells. Central to the Estate is a grand grade II listed Victorian house, converted into beautiful apartments, in addition to this are a number of cottages nestled in the grounds, the largest of which accommodates 12.
Beatrix Potter spent ten summer holidays at Lingholm with her brother Bertram between 1885 and 1907, and if it’s good enough for her!…..
The location is fantastic, direct access to the lakeside and within walking distance to both Keswick and Catbells. We were able to enjoy a truly relaxing break without having to use the car.
Explore the grounds, the woods and orchard, enjoy the walled garden and breathtaking views and indulge in the kitchen café, then walk an Alpaca!
