If you missed it on the One Show yesterday in the absence of trick or treating there was a great idea to still make it fun. Take your children out for a walk and whenever they see a pumpkin give them a treat. So come on everyone get carving!
The rest of the fun can be had indoors so how about creating some fun Halloween delights? These cute little ghosts are a spookily delicious treat for Halloween. They are easy to make and can be prepared ahead and kept in an airtight container until needed.
Meringue Ghosts
3 Egg Whites
175g Caster Sugar
Whisk the egg whites to form firm stiff peaks, you should be able to tip the bowl of egg whites over your head safely!
Add the caster sugar a spoonful at a time and whisk throughly until all the sugar is combined, the mixture should be glossy and firm, be careful not to over whip.
Using a piping bag and round plain nozzle pipe small swirls on to a baking tray lined with a baking sheet or greaseproof paper.
Place these in the oven, 110c for approximately one and a half to two hours, they should be crisp and dried out but still white.
Once cooled pipe on eyes with black icing.
These are a great addition to a Halloween party feast and will be loved by young and old.
