Longer days, Easter holidays, kids in tow…..
We all need some free fun ideas, well here’s one of our faves.
Swinsty Reservoir offers a fabulous, safe, circular walk with a Yorkshire Dales Ice Cream Van in the car park to boot.
The three mile route around Swinsty nestles in the stunning Washburn Valley and provides breath-taking views across the water and the surrounding landscape, especially from the embankment near the River Washburn and at other various rest points dotted along the walk.
There are two main car parks and you can’t go wrong setting off from either, just turn left or right and carry on following the edge of the water until you are back where you started!
As we headed for home after our last visit we picked up signs for a farm shop and café which we duly followed and we recommend you do the same. Said signs let us to Fewston Farm Shop and Café, a family run establishment with a wholesome menu of simple, yummy food. They are open Tuesday – Sunday 10am-4pm, and although there is a lovely picnic area at Swinsty, sometimes just getting the family, the dog and all the relevant attire in the car is enough without packing up sandwiches eh?
