There is no doubt that the invention of an online shop has been a revelation, there is only one thing more expensive that taking your grumpy, hungry, knackered self to the supermarket after a full days work and that is taking your kids.
So being able to sit in the evening after dinner, with a relaxing glass of something while watching mindless telly and quickly run through your list is a godsend.
No little hands adding things to the trolly, no tantrums when you refuse to pay a small mortgage for your body weight in pick n mix. And definitely no buying family packs of your favourite crisp that you can hoover down in the car.
Why therefore does mine occasionally eeerrrr always go so spectacularly wrong? You see I have a ‘fool proof’ plan. You see I book my delivery in advance, let’s say Sunday night, to guarantee delivery later in the week, let’s say Friday morning, to ensure I have lots of lovely food for the weekend. I add the items I know I need, a few items I may need, along with a few filler items to make up a minimum order. The idea is that by Thursday evening I will have completed my meal plan!!! and updated my order.
The second part of my ‘fool proof” plan has NEVER happened, at best there is a frantic scrabble minutes before deadline when I try to remove the Sunday night items and add in something, just something that we can eat.
And so this brings me to this weeks shop, even the delivery driver commented, tequila, lemons, maltesers, rye bread, coffee, just where was my head last Sunday night………….
